Lifeskills and Social Intervention Project
The Autism Life Skills and Social Intervention Project supports people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions aged 16 years and above to access a variety of small group life skills and social opportunities. The project works with people anywhere on the spectrum as long as they are verbal, without a profound physical disability, and can cope in small group environments. The project is small and focused, with a maximum of six members supported by two staff members on any one activity. The activities are half and full day in length and the project has its own eight seat vehicle so everybody can travel to activities together. Activities include: Allotment Group (including healthy lifestyles), sports and exercise group, independent living skills, pub / meal nights, cinema, arts and crafts, computers, shopping – as well as full day social outings to tourist sites such as Styal Mill, Liverpool, Blackpool etc.
In addition to the small group activities, the project will also provides one-to-one support in line with an individual’s Person Centred Plan.
The project is simple to access and people with an autistic diagnosis and funding such as Direct Payments or an Individual Budget are able to self-refer themselves to the Lifeskills Project o access its services. The project will also take referrals from Social Workers, Care Managers and other healthcare professionals.
